Headquartered in New York City, News Corporation (NWSA) is a worldwide media conglomerate operating in television, film, and print. News Corp was created in 1980 by Rupert Murdoch, and would become a major multinational media player over the years.
Following its 1986 Metromedia deal, News Corp launched the Fox Broadcasting Company. In 2003, News Corp obtained a large stake in DirecTV Group, and in 2007 it bought Dow Jones, publisher of the Wall Street Journal.
News Corp is widely known for its TV stations including the Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, FX Networks, and National Geographic Channel. News Corp‘s Fox Filmed Entertainment houses its various film distribution divisions including 20th Century Fox.
