Founded by Sam Walton in 1962, Wal-Mart markets its stores as discount chains, supercenters, and neighborhood markets featuring a wide array of consumer goods and services. Wal-Mart became listed on the NYSE in 1972 and is now the largest publically traded company as measured by revenue. Headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, Wal-Mart owns stores in the U.K., China, Japan, Canada, Brazil, and Argentina, in addition to its primary operations in the U.S.
