In 1940, Dick and Mac McDonald opened a restaurant in California that would be the foundation for what would later become the McDonald's franchise. Ray Kroc franchised the McDonalds brand in 1955 and would later buy out the McDonalds brothers' stake. The company went public in 1965 and now operates in over 100 countries around the world. McDonalds' product line includes hamburgers, cheeseburgers, french fries, chicken sandwiches and nugget, breakfast foods, drinks, salads, and desserts.
