GE History

GE's stock performance is generally viewed as a bellwether for the entire market. From the late 80's to the mid-90's, GE shares gradually climbed into the double digits. During the late 90's, GE experienced their greatest period of share price growth, rising from the low teens to an all-time high of just over $57.

The bursting dot.com bubble slashed GE's stock value in half. By the beginning of 2003, GE traded near $25/share, and by 2007 the multinational conglomerate recovered to just over $41 per share. But the global meltdown of 2008 sent GE tumbling back towards the low double digit range.

GE Last Month

February was not kind to most equity prices, GE included. On January 30, GE closed at $12.13/share and on February 27th its shares slipped to $8.51, representing a 29% decline.
