Kellogg History

From 1985 through the late 1990's, Kellogg experienced steady growth peaking at almost $50/share in December 1997. However starting in 1998, tough competition and stagnant sales within the industry caused the company's value to take a significant hit, plummeting 65% in less than a year. Share value continued to decrease, hitting a 5-yr low of $24/share in September 2000. This period was the only time in the past 20 years that Kellogg fell below broad-market averages. With the acquisition of several health food brands and the rebuilding of their international strategy, Kellogg entered another period of growth in 2001. Share prices continued to climb until late 2008.From 1985 through the late 1990's, Kellogg experienced steady growth peaking at almost $50/share in December 1997.
