Visa lowered its net annual revenue growth to high-single digits from the previous forecast of 11% to 12%. Investors will be keeping a watchful eye on transaction volumes reported by credit card issuers as well as cost cutting measures.

On February 4th, Visa reported a 35% increase in Q1 profits, beating Wall Street's expectations. Net income was $574 million, or $0.74/share, up from $424 million, or $0.55/share during the year-ago period. Ex-items, Visa earned $599 million during the quarter. Revenue climbed 17% to $1.74 billion from $1.49 billion last year while operating expenses slipped almost 5%. Transaction volumes increased 8% during the first quarter despite the global slowdown.
