Visa was a hot item following its March 2008 IPO, running up near$90/share by early May. Investor sentiment cooled down a bit over the summer before the Lehman Brothers earthquake sent stocks tumbling. Visa settled in the mid-$40 range by November, and briefly touched a new all-time low near $42/share in September.
Banking fears led a broad-based decline in the financial sector during January. Visa closed at 52.45 on December 31st and 49.35 on January 30th, representing a 3.1% decline.
