On January 27th, Verizon posted a 15% increase in Q4 earnings to $1.24 billion ($0.43/share), up from $1.07 billion in the prior year period. Revenues climbed 12.3% to $12.8 billion, helped by a 42% increase in broadband and video revenue.
Verizon fell just short of expectations, adding 1.4 million new subscribers. The telco giant closed its acquisition of Alltel on January 9th, bringing in 80 million new customers.
Verizon reports Q1 results on April 27th. A Thomson Reuters poll of analysts calls for earnings of 59 cents excluding items on $26 billion in revenues. The shareholder meeting takes place on May 7th.
