In its Verizon incarnation, the telecom services provider has struggled to impress shareholders. Since topping out above $65/share, the former Baby Bell has slipped slowly into the $30 per share range.
Telco stocks benefited from the bank-led March through April rally as investors rushed back into cyclically-sensitive stocks. On February 27th, Verizon closed at $28.53 and on March 31st the telco settled at $30.20, representing a 5.8% gain.
